To manage your messages online, you'll have to register at this site. You'll get access to the forum and all other features. Because of spam problems in the past, the admin must confirm your membership first.

To manage your messages by e-mail, you'll have to register at the corresponding Mailman list. Then you'll receive every forum message (from the English language board) by e-mail, and you'll be able to reply back to the forum, just as you know it from Yahoo Groups. Of course you can subscribe to daily digests instead as well.

There's also a second mailing list for the German language board. The admin's recommendation is to register both at this community site and for the Mailman list. With both the community software "TikiWiki CMS Groupware" and the mailing list script "GNU Mailman" being open source, the Star Trek Forum is now comlpletely independent from commercial companies, and therefore, from advertising (excluding a tiny Google adsense area).

Both systems together provide a full alternative to Yahoo Groups providing all the same features known from there: contacts, messages, events, files, link lists, surveys, chat etc. Your e-mail address and personal data will be stored safely only in this system's database and never be used for advertising. You can also choose whether to allow other members to view your address or get in touch with you by the internal mail system.

The original Yahoo Group(external link)will remain as a reference to old topics and threads - until hopefully some day it will be possible to integrate all the messages into this system. If you were or are a member of the STMIDI Yahoo group, you already have a user name for this board. It's the same as your Yahoo ID, or if you were a member without ID, the same as the first part of your email address in front of the "@" sign. The password was sent to you upon creation of this forum, but can also be reset on the sign up screen. Should you have no langer any access to the email address, the admin will help you to reactivate your account.

Important: A couple of mail servers consider any e-mail originating from the domain vic-fontaine.com as spam. This includes popular services like freenet.de. Should you have any problems registering your e-mail address, please try using a different one, or get in touch with the admin for assistance.
